Rugby Bikefest is 'roaring to go'

Get ready to kick-start your summer as the Rugby Bikefest returns to Rugby town centre, for its tenth anniversary, with full throttle on Sunday 19 May, between 10.30am and 4pm. This much-anticipated annual event, organised by Rugby First in conjunction with local motorcycling groups, promises a day packed with excitement and entertainment for the whole family, featuring a spectacular Ride-In, live music, stalls, bike and car displays, food and drink, funfair, children’s entertainment, stunt shows and much, much, more!

The festival ‘roars’ into life at 10.30am as hundreds of bikes, an array of models from vintage classics to the latest superbikes, rumble through the town centre as part of the Bikefest ride-in. Enjoy the bikes but please stay off the road and follow the advice of the event stewards until all the bikes are safely parked.

This year’s music line up is super-charged with some superb local bands taking to the two stages in Market Place and Church Street (next to The Squirrel public house). Performing on the day will be Visitation, Monday Nights, Spitfire, The Great Central, White Tyger, The Passerines, Rising Sons, Soul Revival, Magindara and Break the Rules. For timings and further information please visit the Bikefest website. Please note the bands and programme are subject to change.

Explore over 50 stalls and displays offering a wide range of bike related goods, advice and clothing, as well as food, drink and craft stalls! We also have some classic car treats for you as well! Bike enthusiast or not we will have something for you and the family!

In addition to the bikes there will be plenty of fun family entertainment including face painting, bouncy castles, circus skills, big wheel, children’s games, funfair and much more. Much of the family entertainment can be found in the beautiful grounds of Caldecott Park, along with a fantastic play area!

With all the bikes, live music and family entertainment we have plenty of delicious fuel to feed your engines – sausages, Indian, grills, pies, cakes, jerk chicken and much more. Don’t forget to check out some of the great pubs, cafes and restaurants that Rugby town centre has to offer as well!

If you are planning to visit the event on your motorbike then why not take advantage of the bike park in the John Barford car park (accessed via Railway Terrace). The John Barford car park will also offer car parking for those arriving on four wheels rather than two!

Rugby Bikefest will once again operate a Helmet Park outside St Andrew’s Church. This will be open between 10.30am and 3.45pm and be hosted by the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Linda Lowne, Rugby First Business Director said: “I can’t believe it’s the tenth anniversary of Rugby Bikefest and I am delighted that it is continuing to go from strength to strength. This year we will also be using part of ASDA’s car park for a range of displays and activities, including the Extreme Bike Battle stunt team and Moto gymkhana, and we would like to thank ASDA, along with Share Haulage for their continued support of the event.”

Linda continued: “Thousands of people come into the town centre and it is a great ‘shop window’ for Rugby, as well as providing a significant boost to the town centre economy. Last but not least I would like to say a massive thank you to the local biking groups and musicians that support this event, as without their help, support, passion and enthusiasm it would not be possible to deliver such a successful event.”
