Rugby Food & Drink Festival to serve up some tantalising treats

Don’t miss the Rugby Food and Drink Festival taking place in Rugby town centre on Saturday 20th September, between 11am and 5pm. The event taking place on Regent Street (including St Andrew’s Church Gardens), and organised by Rugby First, with support from Rugby Borough Council, will feature stalls selling an array of delicious food and drink, a pop-up demonstration kitchen, music and family entertainment. A delicious mix of ingredients guaranteed to whet your appetite and quench your thirst – and it is FREE to get in!
Stroll around a selection of stalls offering high quality mouth-watering treats from businesses, farms and producers. Much of the food will be freshly cooked, sizzling, full of flavour and ready to eat! Look out for German sausages, Indian street food, Greek food, Pork and Chorizo burgers, Flatbreads, gourmet brownies, Punjabi Street food, Jamaican cuisine, cheeses, jams and much, much more! Of course, you will need something to help wash it down, so we have a great selection of ales, wines and gins to choose from.
As a perfect complement to your ‘alfresco’ dining experience we’ll also have a pop-up kitchen. This will host a variety of lively, informative and colourful demonstrations by chefs from town centre businesses and the local area. The kitchen is a great place to pick up some tips, talk directly with those creating the food and also taste some of their creations. Much of the food the chefs will be serving up can also be produced simply and easily at home! On the menu will be Scotch eggs, Sweet Focaccia, cupcakes, pizza dough, cocktails and one or two surprises. For the full programme please visit the festival website.
The festival will also feature an array of family-friendly entertainment and music, including face painting, a mini ride, and engaging street entertainment - there’s something for everyone.
Linda Lowne, Rugby First Business Director, said, “The Autumn Food and Drink Festival is always extremely popular with visitors and stallholders, and it is great that we are fully booked again. The extra footfall generated by the event will have a significant impact on the town centre economy, by raising awareness of town centre businesses, and increasing spend! As always, we want people to come and enjoy the event but at the same time to visit and support their local town centre businesses!”
Linda continued: “We would like to extend a massive thank you to Rugby Borough Council, Rugby Baptist Church, Revive, St Andrew’s Church and Carvels for their support of the event.”
